Joey

ADOPTED!!!

3/27/08 Update:  Here are some pics of Joey's adoption.  He met his Mom & Dad earlier in the week, but Mom came to get him on Wednesday, 3/19.  Have a happy life Joey!

2/7/08 Joey is a 5-month-old Aussie mix who is house broken and loves people, kids and cats!  For those of you to whom Joey looks familiar, he first came to us at 7 weeks old.  Joey was adopted with a neuter contract but has not yet be neutered.  He has come back into our rescue through not fault of his own :-(  Joey's family has had some health/personal issues that make it impossible for them to provide the care and attention that Joey deserves.  He is great in the house and does not chew or destroy anything.

Newby has been adopted!

Charlotte & Arthur

ADOPTED!!!

2/11/08 Charlotte & Arthur's foster home decided to add them to their family because they are such great doggies, they couldn't bear to part with them. :-)

1/30/08 Charlotte and Arthur arrived from New Mexico on 1/18/08 and spent the weekend at University Hospital getting the "once over".  Arthur was just fine, but Charlotte had a severe Urinary Tract Infection which has been treated and she is now doing great!  They both have been in foster care since 1/21 and are anxiously awaiting their forever homes :-)

Charlotte is a short-haired Blue Merle Aussie mix and is approximately 3 to 4 years old.  She has been spayed and is current on all vaccinations.  Charlotte gets along great with all sorts of livestock; horses, chickens, cattle, rabbits and even has a pygmy goat as a new friend.  She is very loving and enjoys being petted by all she meets.  Charlotte is looking for a forever home to give her the loving and attention she deserves.  Charlotte would benefit greatly with leash training.

If you are interested in being Charlotte's forever family, please contact Alice at 480-838-2267 or email at aussierescue@cox.net

Arthur is a beautiful blue-eyed Aussie mix approximately 1-year-old.  He has been neutered and is up-to-date on his shots.  Arthur, like Charlotte, gets along with all the livestock and enjoys human loving.  He is very curious and enjoys investigating everything!  Arthur would benefit greatly with some basic obedience and leash training. Arthur is looking for his new forever family to help him investigate the world...one day at a time!

If you are interested in adding Arthur to your family, please contact Alice at 480-838-2267 or email at aussierescue@cox.net

Sunshine & Louis ADOPTED!!!

JOEY

ADOPTED!

Joey is a beautiful fur ball of a 7-8 week old Red Merle Aussie mix.  He was Vet checked (after nearly being hugged to death by the staff) where he was deemed a healthy pup.  Joey received his first booster shot as well as being dewormed.  He weighs in at 9.3 lbs.

Joey has a sweet temperament and loves everyone!  Although his baby teeth are razor sharp, he manages to give great kisses without injury :-)  However, the same cannot be said about your ankles...yep, he's an ankle biter!  He is very curious and afraid of nothing, not even a cat twice his size.  Joey's potty training is going well and he is crate trained.  He's a typical puppy...full of energy one minute and fast asleep the next.  Joey's favorite position is the frog leg!

Because of Joey's young age, he can be adopted with a neuter contract to the right home.  If you are interested in becoming Joey's forever family, please contact Alice at 480-838-2267 or email at aussierescue@cox.net  You can also complete our online application following the instructions below.

Grizzly is a 2-year-old Aussie mix and in DESPERATE need of a forever home! Due to his owners health, it is an extremely URGENT matter. Their only other choice besides Aussie Rescue (and we're full at this time) is the dog pound, and we all know what that means!

Grizzly is house and crate trained, knows basic commands, likes kids and is a GREAT fly catcher :-)

If you can foster/adopt him please contact me as soon as possible at aussierescue@cox.net or call at 480-838-2267  THANKS!

WINK

ADOPTED!!! 3/25/07

4/1/07 UPDATES:

Wink's doing great. He is such a joy. A handful, yes, but I feel so lucky to have him here at the ranch. We have 9 dogs on the property, and surprisingly he is the ONLY one who goes with me the entire way of my 40-acre fence perimeter walk every morning. Everybody else bows out at some point for some reason or another, so it is just a joy to have him along for my whole walk. He goes everywhere with me or Ed, especially whoever is outside working. He had his first encounter with the horses on Monday when I thought my two-year old palomino Poo (Tess) was going to try to eat him (not literally of course). So he has already developed a good respect for horse hooves. Winky has learned to run to the house perimeter yard and duck under the wire to escape the horses. Yesterday we went out to catch horses for the farrier, and Winky was just a bit too slow getting to the fence for my busybody Sheltie Jack (the sable), who ran out from the yard and ran between Wink and Poo barking and nipping and chased her away from Wink. Kelly the Rotty has decided that Wink is her baby and won't let anybody mess with him! They stand there together wagging their little stumpy tails. It's so cute!

I'll send along more pics and experiences as they happen. Thank you so much for trusting me with this special puppy; I feel like we were brought together for a special purpose. Sam

When God created the horse he said to the magnificent creature:
I have made thee as no other. All the treasures of the earth lie between thy eyes. Thou shalt carry my friends upon thy back. Thy saddle shall be the seat of prayers to me. And thou fly without wings, and conquer without any sword. Oh, horse.
~The Qu'ran (Koran)

A stunning 4-month-old Red Tri who is very loving, friendly and energetic.  He has had his first two sets of shots and has been micro chipped. Check back for updates and new pictures.  If you are interested in making Wink a member of your family, please email me at aussierescue@cox.net or call at 480-838-2267 or complete and return our online application for consideration.

UPDATE: 3/24/07 Wink is a sweet little boy!  He slept all night in his crate and was ready to play when he woke up.  Cyndi & Dave (foster parents) worked in the yard today and he was quite helpful.  He helped Cyndi dig holes to plant and carried off the branches of trees when Dave cut them :-)

Here are some pictures of him enjoying the yard work

After all that hard work, he was still willing to go on trying to catch that wet stuff coming out of that long green thing :-)

Ozzie

ADOPTED 3/18/07

3/21/07 Update!

Alice:  Just wanted to touch base with you and say thanks for letting me adopt Ozzie.  He is AWESOME. He fits right in with all the other critters.  He loves the cows!  He went on his first trail ride yesterday and stayed right with the horses.  Just like he had done it a million times.  We are very delighted with him and he is VERY loved by all in our family!!!!

Thanks! Dawn and Ozzie

3/1/07  Ozzie is a red-merle male, DOB - Nov. 9, 2005. He is schedule to be neutered this coming Wednesday. Ozzie is crate trained, house broken, knows basic commands such as sit and come and walks great on a leash. He enjoys riding in the car and being bathed. Ozzie enjoys playing with other dogs (don't know about cats yet). We will know at a later date if he is "Kid Friendly" right now we are just letting him settle in with his new "Foster Mom" Lindsay so she can further evaluate him.  Check back for new details as they become available.

If you are interested in making Ozzie a member of your family, please email me at aussierescue@cox.net or call at 480-838-2267 or complete and return our online application for consideration.

Maddie

ADOPTED!!! 3/25/07

3/25/07 UPDATE:  Good morning Alice!  The night went fairly well.  We ended up letting Maddie sleep out of her crate because she started whining very loudly and we were afraid she would wake up the girls.  Her preference is definitely the bed J but John doesn’t want to start any bad habits especially since we want to have a total of 2.  So, we’ll work on her crate training.

While I was at the store yesterday, John said Lizzie and Maddie went outside to play.  He didn’t see them after a few minutes and went to investigate.  She was playing outside her bedroom window and as John was standing in her room listening to her play, he said she stopped, looked up and said “Thank you God for bringing Maddie to me.  I love her so much and I will take good care of her”.  She put her head down and then looked up to the sky again and said “God I love you too”.  Is that too cute or what.  John said he about cried.  She just loves Maddie.  They’re going to make a wonderful team.

Maddie went with John this morning to take Lizzie to school.  She’s a great little dog!   Sam said that you called last night and may need foster homes for 2 new rescues?  Let us know.  Thanks again!  Kathy

3/25/07 UPDATE:  Hi Alice….Our trip home was uneventful…Maddie stood watch and Wink slept the whole way to my house. J   Maddie and Wink played for awhile until it was time for Sam to head home and meet his new siblings.  Sam said all wend well and everyone was getting along.  Maddie just loves the girls and the fact that Lizzie will throw and throw the ball for her!  Maddie and Charlie (our momma cat) met and Charlie established pretty darn quick that she is still and always be the queen of the ranch.  The other cats are not confrontational at all, so I’m sure things will settle in pretty quickly.

I’ve attached a couple of pictures of Maddie and one of Charlie which pretty much says it all…very funny.

Take care and thank you SO much! Kathy

2/21/07  Maddie is a 19-month-old spayed Red Tri female (with a tail) who was an owner turn-in at the AZ Humane Society on 2/18 because her guardians had no time for her.  The Humane Society called us because she was scared in her crate and showed no signs of friendliness...and they had no resources to work with her.  My question is WHAT WORK???  Maddie is a beautiful little girl with loving amber eyes (the pics show red because of the flash, but we will get some daylight pics just to show off her beautiful eyes), who is a sweetheart and a GREAT dog!

Maddie is currently in foster care with Lindsay and her Kelpies, Bailey and Tatum (shown in pics).  She slept quietly in her crate the entire night and spend 3 hours at the dog park today.  Maddie is crate trained and housebroken and would make some lucky family a wonderful addition.  Maddie has a lot of undercoat and Lindsay is working on brushing all of that out...though Maddie isn't real fond of being brushed.  Here are some pictures of Maddie at our house getting acquainted with everyone.  If you are interested in making Maddie a vital part of your family, please email me at aussierescue@cox.net or call at 480-838-2267 or complete and return our online application for consideration.

  Enjoy the pics!

Charlie

ADOPTED 1/18/07

1/18/07 Charlie found his wonderful forever home with a very loving couple.  Check soon for updates/pics.

Charlie is a 5-year-old Aussie looking for a new home.  He was found wandering the streets and his microchip was traced back to his original rescuer then turned over to us.  He is a sweet boy and still remembers his basic commands.  Charlie is up-to-date on all vaccinations, microchipped and neutered.  All he needs now is a loving family to call his own.  If you are interested in making Charlie a part of your family, please contact Alice at 480-838-2267 or email at aussierescue@cox.net for further details.

RILEY

ADOPTED 12-07-06

12/07/06  Riley was spayed today and will be going to her new forever home to recuperate!  Merry Christmas Riley!!!

11/30/06  Riley is a sweet little Aussie mix (approximately 12 weeks old) who was found wandering the streets in the far west side of Phoenix with an apparent eye wound.  She was turned over to us and was immediately taken to the Vet's office who recommended drastic treatment.  It appears her eye was punctured possibly from a cactus and a second opinion from our personal Vet resulted in treating her with 2 different eye medications.  Her eye seems to be healing nicely and a follow-up visit will be scheduled in the near future.

Riley received her first booster shot, is scheduled for her 2nd next week and the final booster will be given 3 weeks after that.  She is currently in foster care and is already crated trained.  She has NOT had an potty accident in the house (due to the diligence of her foster Mom).  Riley is currently staying with 2 other dogs and loves to play.  We do not know how she does with cats, but considering her young age, I'm sure there would not be a problem.  Riley will be spayed before going to her new home.

If you are interested in making Riley a part of your family, please contact Alice at 480-838-2267 or email at aussierescue@cox.net for further details.

Fluffy Goes "Home" for Christmas

Fluffy, a beautiful Blue Merle had found his "forever" home a little over a year ago with a family who just "fell in love" with him.  The lady previously worked  for the man who had produced the litter.

We were contacted by his "loving" family who no longer wanted him.  They had moved to a new house and he was left outside in a rock yard.  Since he had NEVER been to a Vet and obviously NOT neutered, we requested a donation of $50 to help with medical expenses (shots, neutering, Vet check).  Arrangements were made for Lindsey (foster home) to pick him up, but the owner caused delays.  Finally, the owner dropped him off (unscheduled) on Saturday (12/2/06), handed Lindsey some cash and took off.  The cash donation was $14 and after a simple inspection of Fluffy, Lindsey found him to be full of TICKS.  Calls to his owner went unanswered and Fluffy was immediately taken for treatment for the ticks.  He was scheduled to see the Vet on 12/12/06 for a thorough checkup.

The days of fostering that followed proved that Fluffy had no manners and was neglected in many ways.  Leaving a dog outside with no social contact is a terrible thing to do...to any dog, especially an interactive Aussie!

Fluffy's owner release papers listed his breeder's name, but no other information.  Lindsey researched the breeder on the internet and found a fax number.  When doing rescue, we always try to contact the breeder to see if they are interested in taking their dogs back.  After faxing the information about Fluffy, Lindsey received a phone call from the breeder.  Distraught about Fluffy's condition and situation, arrangements were made for Fluffy to return to his original home this weekend.

It's always a wonderful success story when a breeder takes back their own.  We admire your commitment and responsibility and commend you for doing the right thing!

Merry Christmas Fluffy!

Update!!!  Boomerang's been adopted!

Boomerang

ADOPTED 11/06/06

Boomerang, born 1/10/06 is an energetic, Blue Merle neutered male.  He loves kids, cats, bunnies and people. He is very eager to learn, as with all Aussies, he just wants to please his owner.  If your interested in adding Boomerang as a new family member, please contact Alice at 480-838-2267 or email her at aussierescue@cox.net for more information.

Matthew (Lolly's Dad) sent a picture of Lolly enjoying her new life!

Lolly Blue

ADOPTED 9/15/06

Lolly Blue finds her perfect "Best Friend" Matthew and goes home to live in Tucson!  Here are a few pics of Lolly Blue at Alice's when she finds her Forever Home!

"Lolly Blue" is a 5 yr. old spayed Blue Merle Female, up to date on shots and housebroken.  She is a very loving girl, but tends to "herd" & "nip" small children.  Lolly is a GREAT camping dog, and behaves extremely well. As most Aussies are, Lolly too is a clown and so enjoys being one. She does chase & nip children running around the pool (typical Aussie...it's a "I got to SAVE you' thing) but will gladly play Frisbee with them outside the pool area. She is an all around terrific girl.

Please let me spend this holiday with you as a new member of your family!!!

SHEILA

ADOPTED!!!

Sheila is a very sweet, energetic, 4 year old, black tri that LOVES her Frisbee. She would love someone that has the same amount of energy that she has! Her perfect home would be someone that is interested in flyball or agility!
She is a little protective recently over her food but that can be worked out. Older children would be fine. She will not be placed with small children because of the food issue.

*UPDATE* Sheila is starting to get over her food aggression and is doing great! Please contact Alice at aussierescue@cox.net

BUD

ADOPTED!!!

03/21/06 After having several people interested in Bud, Alice and Richard realized that he had already found his forever home.  It took a long time for Bud to feel comfortable enough to lay belly up and he does it constantly.  He absolutely LOVES Richard and enjoys their daily walks.  Bud...you're one lucky boy!

12/15/05 Bud has FINALLY been neutered...it only took 11+ years to have it done :-)  He is comfortably recovering at Alice & Richard's and is now ready to find his forever home.  Bud is a sweetheart who was the highlight at Dr. Brady's office today (Best Friends Animal Hospital in Mesa...my Vet...and proud of her).  In addition to his neutering, 2 small masses (head and butt) were removed and he will see Dr. Brady again in about 10 days for the removal of the stitches.  If you are interested in providing Bud his forever home, PLEASE contact Alice at 480-838-2267 or email her at aussierescue@cox.net

Thank you Alice and Richard for all the work you did to make Bud ready for a neuter he should have had years ago.  Saving a life of a "senior" doggie has to be so rewarding!  Kudos to Aussie Rescue in AZ!   We're proud to take part in your rescue adventures!

11/21/05 Bud went for his recheck at Dr. Brady's today and he is coming along just fine.  Although Dr. Brady thought he has had a remarkable improvement (thanks to Alice's daily efforts of meds, scrubbing and applying ointment), he is not totally recovered.  So...Alice will be doing two more weeks of medicating, scrubbing and lotion massages!  Bud will be rechecked on 12/5/05. so please keep him in your thoughts and prayers for a full recovery.  Once that happens, Bud will be able to get neutered.

11/7/05 Bud is a handsome boy and his story is sad, but familiar.  He is 11 years old and his guardian lost her home, so she took him to her Vet to be euthanized because she had no place for him to go.  Luckily, the Vet's office contacted Alice and she took him right in...a happy ending for all involved, especially Bud.  Here are a few pics of him enjoying life at Alice's.

Bud seemed to be in good health, but has a rash and leather-like skin on his groin and leg area.  So, a trip to see the groomer to shave off all that hair was the first thing Bud got done.  Then a visit to Dr. Brady at Best Friends Animal Hospital in Mesa to provide some answers and treatment for his condition.  It seems that Bud had a prior infection that had not been taken care of.  He currently has a fungal infection that will require antibiotics, special shampoo and a few other medications.  Also, Bud is not neutered and Dr. Brady cannot do surgery until his infection is gone and his skin is healed.  Here are a few pictures of Bud's visit with Dr. Brady.

Bud is scheduled for a follow-up visit in 2 weeks with Dr. Brady on 11/21/05 to check his progress.  If you would like to help Aussie Rescue with Bud's medical treatment or interested in providing a forever home, please contact Alice at 480-838-2267 or email her at aussierescue@cox.net

Too see more pics of Bud enjoying life at Alice's, please visit their fundraiser page!

Tequila

ADOPTED!!!

Timone

ADOPTED!!!

Timone is a 10-month-old Blue Merle spayed female, current on all vaccinations .  She absolutely LOVES children and gets along with other dogs and "dog savvy cats".  She is a "velcro" dog and loves being with her human family.  She would do best in a home with children who would show love and respect to her.  Because she is still a pup, obedience training would be a good idea.  She weighs in about 35 pounds.  Timone is a real sweetheart who is looking for a loving family to call her own.  If you are interested in adding Timone to your family, please contact Alice at aussierescue@cox.net for further information or call (480) 838-2267.

Bubba

Bubba then...and Bubba now!

BUBBA'S BEEN ADOPTED!!!

10/19/05 After spending a year in foster care with Alice and Richard, Bubba went to his FOREVER home on Saturday, 10/15/05.  Bubba has been quite a handful during the last year; surgery (Femoral Head Ostectomy) in November and months of recovery; learning all the basic doggie rules and spending most of the day on Alice's lap (she now needs a hip replacement) :-)

All is going well in his new home and now he sits on his Dad's lap most of the time.  Alice would like to thank Nancy Tierney and Family for their support and donations towards Bubba's medical expenses during this past year.  Now enjoy a few pics of Bubba meeting his new family!  There really is a forever home for each and every doggie...they just need a safe place to stay until that time comes!

(His entire story)  2/16/05 UPDATE:  I had the pleasure of personally meeting Bubba today, so I thought I would give my input on him.  Upon arriving at Alice's, Bubba was secured in an X-pen, just barking his head off.  I'm sure he wondered who this strange person was, invading his home.  He continued barking at me until Alice threw her flip flop shoe at the X-pen, at which time, Bubba immediately laid down and never said another word.  After getting much loving from Scarlett, Lucy and Tally, Bubba began to whine, wondering why he wasn't included.  Not yet sure of how Bubba does with strangers, Alice was cautious with our introduction.  Scarlett, Lucy and Tally were sent to the other room, while I sat on the floor talking to Bubba, telling him how handsome he was :-)  Soon, I got a wag of the tail and figured it was going to be okay.  Alice let Bubba out the pen and he came to check me out.  He let me pet him and then he wouldn't leave me alone!  After a few back rubs, ear scratching and head petting...he was mine!

We went out into the yard, where Bubba ran around showing off how well he could run with a bum leg.  While Bubba may never have full use of his leg, he doesn't seem to think he needs it.  He ran through the yard, jumped over logs, grabbed toys to show me and he never missed a beat.  He even took some time out to "talk" to me.  Oh, did I mention that Bubba is a BIG talker...he always has something to say!

While it's true that Bubba will need some guidance and understanding, in the right forever home he will be a loyal companion and a true friend.  That home may never be quiet, as Bubba really does like to talk!

Here are some pics I took of Bubba, along with Scarlett and Lucy.  Enjoy!

1/12/05 UPDATE:  Bubba enjoying his Christmas presents!  Update coming soon!!!

11/29/04 UPDATE:  Bubba is recovering nicely after surgery.  Here is a pic, courtesy of Alice.

11/17/04 UPDATE:  Bubba is scheduled for surgery on 11/24/04.  During his evaluation, it was determined that his injury is too old for the more expensive surgery (inserting pins).  We have no idea how long he lingered at the AZ Humane Society before Alice got him out.  He is scheduled to have a Femoral Head Ostectomy and will stay overnight at the Vets office.  Alice would like to thank everyone for their generous donations to help pay for Bubba's surgery.  Please check back for updates and pics next week.

11/11/04 UPDATE:  Bubba is scheduled for a vet visit on Saturday, 11/13/04 to be evaluated for his upcoming surgery.  Details will be posted next week.  All paws crossed for Bubba.  And don't forget to donate, if you can.  Thanks!

Bubba, a beautiful 1 1/2 year old Red Tri Aussie, was hit by a car and taken to the AZ Humane Society on October 8, 2004.  After his 3 day stray waiting period, several rescues were contacted by AHS because he was deemed unadoptable due to the fact that he could not be touched and would attempt to bite.  Alice Corrado of Aussie Rescue in AZ agreed to take him in.  Once Alice agreed to take him, he was given Rimadyl for pain (a pain medication used typically for hip dysplasia)  When Alice asked Tacy (AHS Hospital Supervisor) if he had been X-rayed, she responded by saying "We don't want to put any money into him if no one wants him." (Can you believe that?) Alice then requested that he be sedated and X-rayed, agreeing to pay the cost.  He was X-rayed (and neutered, much to Alice's surprise) on October 15th, one week after arriving at AHS.  AHS reported to Alice that he had a hairline fracture in the femoral head.  When Alice sent his X-rays to be examined by her vet, the diagnosis was 2 breaks in his pelvic bone.  Her Vet immediately prescribed a much more appropriate (potent) pain killer, since Rimadyl couldn't possibly come close to easing any pain to this type of break.  The X-rays have also been sent to another vet for a 2nd opinion and they are awaiting a diagnosis.  At this time, the opinion of Alice's lifelong (and trusted) Vet is surgery to implant a plate with pins, averaging at a cost of $2,000.

Aussie Rescue in AZ is a small rescue, dedicated to saving as many as possible of the many Aussies-In-Need in Arizona.  A $2,000 surgery is beyond their financial means!  We are asking that the many wonderful Aussie Lovers who visit our site, consider helping Bubba become whole again.  To contribute to Aussie Rescue in AZ, for Bubba's future surgery, please send a check to BUBBA c/o Aussie Rescue in AZ, 2449 E. Fairmont Drive, Tempe, AZ 85282.  If you would like to contact Alice directly for more information, or to inquire about the possibility of making Bubba a permanent part of your family (after surgery, of course), please email Alice at aussierescue@cox.net or call at 480-838-2267.
