Sydney
2/20/07 Sydney had a tough journey coming to her forever home. She was turned in by her family in December, who had her since she was 6 weeks old, due to a job relocation and housing that didn’t allow dogs her size. She then went to 2 foster homes in one month. She was then adopted in February, by a mom with a 2 year old. Tearfully they gave her back I believe sometime in May, as she was too much of a tom boy for the 2 year old. She spent over 3 months in the next foster home. I had put my beautiful Aussie boy to sleep in July and decided I would never do this again. Not that there weren’t other dogs before him. He was a very special dog, the kind you are blessed to have. He was found wandering when he was about 41/2 months old. I had just put down my other favorite dog, and didn’t want any more. But he looked so cute. After over 13 years together, he had to go to the rainbow land to await me. So again I vowed to never get another dog. Too painful. But perhaps I could just look at one be to be sure. Encouraged by a friend to just look, I went to see Sydney. I couldn’t get her out of my mind. Still I wasn’t too sure. Went back 2 more times. The third time she came home with me. I was afraid she wouldn’t get along with the cat, but after a couple of days, all was fine. The cat missed my other Aussie so much, he came running when he saw Sydney, thinking his old friend had returned. (He was a Blue Merle also.) When Sydney realized she didn’t have to share toys, with the cat she was okay. Soon she tried to give him a toy in an attempt to get him to play. Cat didn’t like toys with nasty dog slobber, and they were almost as big as him. So her 6th home in 8 months is now her forever home. She’s a sweet and feisty dog, lots of Aussie energy-we play Frisbee 2 times a day, and of course there seems to be Velcro attached to me as I always have an Aussie girl stuck to me.
